Master Stylist/ Salon Manager/Owner
I have been a hairstylist since 1982. I began hairdressing in 1980 in a high school cosmetology program. I was not very good at all, I come from a family of 10 kids and I practiced on all of them. Thank goodness they have short memories. I was fortunate early in my career to meet my husband Terry. He valued advanced education and sent his stylists to numerous advanced training classes as well as teaching us the latest looks and techniques himself. At a young age I had the opportunity to learn from the best in the industry.
Since then I have extensively trained in every area pertaining to the industry, marketing, business management, customer relations, teaching, and every area of hair; classes, courses and academies too numerous to count. I have been privileged to train directly with the creative directors of several major beauty companies. What does this mean to you? I have developed the ability and skills necessary to understand hair and what it does. Not just to give you the latest trend which may or may not suit you and your hair, but to create contemporary styles that flatter you and your hair type, are easy to care for and grow out gracefully. I often say that we know quite clearly what we do not like, but rarely what we do like. In my consultations with a client, we determine a goal together, are very clear of likes and dislikes and styling skill level, and then I create a style that suits their lifestyle. I love when they return for their next haircut and their hair still looks great.
I am most proud of my husband (Terry), my two daughters, Jamie, who has worked in marketing and salon management for 5 years and is now getting her business degree at the U of A, and Robin who is my spa manager, a first class Esthetician and Permanent Makeup Artist. Lastly my two sons in law, Gary and Derek and my beautiful grand daughter, Alexandra (who I will one day teach hairdressing to). When I am not working on or in my business, I love to hike, bike, kayak and work on our hobby farm with my husband. We consider ourselves very fortunate to have had the opportunity to leave the hectic city pace and move to such a beautiful, peaceful place.
If you have the type of hair that most hairstylists cannot figure out, then I’m your girl. Come to our salon, have your hair done, and then you can spend the afternoon in our beautiful town.
